Motivation is Marvelous: Engaging Strategies for Adolescent Readers

 

Proposal Abstract/Description

Have your adolescent readers lost their literary spark?  Discover ways to captivate your students’ interests in reading.  This session will provide instructional activities to engage students, 4th grade and above.

 

Presentation Format: Power Point and Hands-On ActivitiesProposal Content

The session will include a variety of hands-on instructional activities and strategies for educators to motivate and engage their adolescent readers in literacy.  Each activity will be able to be modified and applied in diverse classroom environments across multiple levels.

 

Proposal Process

Educators will have the opportunity to collaborate with other participants, as well as share their prior-experiences in a discussion format.  Participants will also engage in multiple activities that could be used in their own classrooms.

 

Participant Outcomes/The Objectives

Participants will be better prepared to motivate and engage their adolescent readers who have lost their spark for literacy.  They will be exposed to activities and strategies that they may implement in their own classrooms after the conclusion of the session.
