Professional Development Plan
The literacy plan attached below is an artifact that Jennifer Eubank and I created in our Developing Literacy Leaders course (READ 680). The purpose of this assignment was to give us an opportunity to determine a literacy need based on data, generate and research solutions, and design a school wide plan that includes materials, methods, at least one professional development opportunity, and a timeline for implementation. Our plan addresses the literacy need in Concept of Word areas including: pointing, word identification, and word list, which was determined by analyzing Kindergarten PALs data. The solution we chose to best address the school’s literacy need is the Community Coaching Cohort Model (CCCM) designed by Dr. Sara Miller (Longwood University assistant professor) and Angela Stewart (Chesterfield County Public Schools literacy coach). In addition, a PowerPoint presentation is attached for a brief overview.
